It’s official–the space formerly known as River City Cellars is now The Room at Secco. The Room will lovingly whip the city’s collective palate into shape with a series of special events and classes (from wine pairing to book signing to slow-cooking to pasta making), and offer an exceptional venue for your next private party!
Private Events
Whether you’re hosting a holiday party, a corporate wine tasting or an intimate shin-dig with your nearest and dearest,
The Room at Secco will deliver the food, setting and service that’s everything you’ve come to expect from your favorite Carytown spot. Up to 45 people (roughly 25 seated) can be comfortably accommodated in our stylish, secluded space (with highly-coveted, free off-street parking). Expect a lot more than the requisite chips and dip, with menu options that include Secco’s signature snacks, artisanal cheeses and cured meat platters, house-made charcuterie and, of course, selections from of our award-winning beverage program. Email our Events Coordinator Nicole (
nicole@seccowinebar.com) for rates, menus and more information.
Special Events
From classes on stinky cheeses and Sicilian wines, to beer brunches and wine crawls, Secco has proven itself to be a hot bed for awesome, out-of-the-box events. And now that we have a dedicated space, it’s only going to get
awesomer in 2013. Subscribe to our email list and/or follow us on

UPDATE: The 9:30PM seating is SOLD OUT, but a few reservations are still available for 7PM.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
Wow, maybe it’s just my poor reading comprehension, but 2011 has been one INCREDIBLE year! Osama Bin Laden’s outrageous public bender, the assassination of Charlie Sheen, the Irish Spring, a whole bunch of stuff got occupied – there’s just so much to reflect upon. And while the prevailing wisdom would have you end 2011 sipping over-priced bubbly from a plastic flute, while a mass of drunken strangers comes at you with more elbows than the ’89 Detroit Pistons, Secco invites you to something a little more…intimate.
With two fantastic tasting menus — one regular (ie: omnivorous) and one vegetarian — complete with optional beer and wine pairings, New Years Eve at Secco is gonna be a blast. Join us for the 7:00PM seating and make it to your next stop long before the ball drops. Only a few reservations are left, so don’t procrastinate. Menus and reservation info below.
Happy Holidays!
Matt

Remember last New Years Eve?
Remember your attempt to jump-start that weight-loss resolution by subsisting the whole day on a greek salad and a diet Fanta? Remember how you waited until the very last minute to buy booze and ended up with a “champagne” that was produced and bottled by the inmates of a Bulgarian prison? Remember the epic dance party that broke out minutes after the ball dropped?
Of course you don’t.
Thanks to your empty stomach, you were passed out on a pile of coats in the guest room by 11:15. And, thanks to the crappy bubbly, when you finally regained consciousness it felt like the entire cast of Stomp was rehearsing in your skull.
Don’t make that mistake again! One visit to the Secco/River City Cellars’ New Year’s Eve Preparedness Complex will provide you with everything needed to ring in 2011 with style and grace. Hit RCC to stock up on bubbly, beer and a bevy of excellent wine, then head next door to Secco for THIS…

Fried Mortadella with farm egg, spinach and piment d'espelette mayo ($7 - includes a salad of local field greens and fried chickpeas)
What is this, you ask? This is SUSTENANCE. This is the ultimate foundation for a night of drinking. This is the 300 lb bouncer that will keep all those rogue elements entering your stomach on their best behavior.
Mortadella (a high-quality Italian bologna) is pan fried and topped with fresh spinach, a farm egg and piment d’espelette mayo. This is comfort food of the highest order. Sure, it isn’t exactly what you’d consider “low fat” but, let’s be honest, that wheat berry salad isn’t going to bail you out when you’re swigging Jameson from the bottle at 2AM.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!!!
NOTE: Secco will close to the general public at 4PM on New Year’s Eve and will not reopen until Tuesday, January 4th at noon. New Year’s Eve dinner is by reservation only and is currently sold out.
